Anum Fatima, M.A.

Anum Fatima, M.A. (she/her/hers) is a Master’s Level Clinician at Konick and Associates who provides counseling and psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and adults across the lifespan. She holds a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling and Behavioral Medicine from Boston University and a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Psychology with a minor in Social Work from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Anum is a warm, empathetic, and person-centered clinician who believes therapy should be a space where clients can feel understood, accepted, and genuinely themselves. She brings warmth and humor into the therapy room and uses a collaborative, narrative-based approach to help clients make sense of their experiences, recognize patterns, and develop a stronger sense of self. As rapport develops, she incorporates insight-oriented work and practical skill building to support meaningful and sustainable change.

Anum draws from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Regulation (STAIR), person-centered therapy, and play-based approaches. She tailors her approach to each client’s developmental stage, needs, and goals.

Anum has extensive experience working with children and adolescents, including work as a registered behavior therapist in an ABA clinic serving children ages 2–17 with autism spectrum disorder. This experience deepened her understanding of child development, neurodiversity, and behavioral concerns, while strengthening her ability to adapt communication and interventions to each child’s developmental level and individual way of communicating and engaging.

Her clinical experience also includes inpatient psychiatric and partial hospitalization settings, where she facilitated DBT-based and dual-diagnosis groups addressing substance use and co-occurring mental health concerns. At South Boston Community Health Center, she provided individual therapy to clients ranging from early childhood through older adulthood, further developing her ability to adapt her approach across developmental stages and clinical needs.

Anum has a particular interest in supporting clients navigating trauma and anxiety-related concerns, including domestic violence, assault, complex/childhood PTSD, acute stress, generalized anxiety, social and interpersonal anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive symptoms. She especially enjoys working with adolescents and young adults as they navigate identity, relationships, anxiety, and the transitions that come with emerging adulthood.

Anum is passionate about multicultural and identity-informed care and recognizes that culture, family, identity, and societal expectations can significantly shape an individual’s mental health experience. As a South Asian American clinician, she is particularly interested in supporting clients from diverse and historically underrepresented communities while welcoming and valuing clients from all backgrounds. She strives to approach each client with cultural humility and curiosity, recognizing that every person brings their own unique identities, experiences, values, and perspectives to therapy.

Anum is also passionate about the normalization and destigmatization of mental health care. During her undergraduate studies, she served on the board of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), helping promote mental health awareness and reduce stigma surrounding mental health disability on the college campus.

Originally from the western suburbs, Anum grew up in Naperville and surrounding cities before moving to Massachusetts for graduate school. She is excited to return to the community and support clients through a compassionate and inclusive approach to care.
